About
Former winning jockey, and now successful racehorse trainer, Gemma Tutty is based on the picturesque North Yorkshire moors. Her base, Trenholme House Farm, has been home to over a hundred winners. With an exciting team of horses, a host of facilities, including a private gallop, and a very driven trainer at the helm, 2023 looks set to be another successful season for Gemma Tutty Racing.

Having taken over the trainers’ licence from her mother Karen, Gemma has a wealth of experience, gained from having worked in the racing industry for over a decade.

Gemma's career in flat racing started when taking out an apprentice jockey’s licence in 2012. She developed her experience during stints with trainers Saeed Bin Suroor in Dubai, Kevin Ryan, and her mother Karen, for whom Gemma acted as Assistant Trainer. As a jockey Gemma won 75 races.

In 2022, her first season as a trainer, Gemma returned a creditable 16 winners. Mostly Cloudy, her most successful horse, won five consecutive races, rising from a handicap mark of just 60 up to an impressive 98 in the process. Shahnaz won three races rising from a mark of 59 to 73. There was a brace from Miss Britain and also wins for Strawman, Freak Out, Fomo, Elixsoft, Vondelpark and Twin Appeal.

2023 brings a whole host of exciting new horses and opportunities to the growing yard, along with hopes for a very successful season ahead.

In addition to training, Gemma has also launched the Yorkshire Moors Racing Syndicate to give more people the opportunity to become involved in racehorse ownership. This has already proved successful with the first two horses being fully syndicated very quickly. Further information on the Yorkshire Moors Racing syndicate can be found here.
